About the NewDemPAC
In March 2005, the New Democrat Coalition (NDC) in the U.S. House of
Representatives was relaunched. Since then, the NewDems and the NewDemPAC
have been very successful and are well positioned for the 111th Congress.
Thanks to great support in Washington and across the country, the New Democrat
Coalition PAC has raised about $1,500,000 this cycle. We are proud to report that
15 of the 20 seats Democrats picked up in the election were candidates backed
and supported by the NewDems. In addition, we are also please do congratulate
one of our own Coalition Members, Congressman Rahm Emanuel, who will serve
as President-elect Obama's Chief of Staff.
We also have a new leadership team for the 111th Congress: Congresswoman
Ellen Tauscher (CA-10) was elected to retain her position as Chair of the group for
an additional term. Rounding out the leadership team are the NewDem Whip, Rep.
Joe Crowley (NY-07), PAC Chair, Rep. Adam Smith (WA-09), and Vice-Chairs Ron
Kind (WI-03), Melissa Bean (IL-08), and Allyson Schwartz (PA-13). The elections
took place at the Coalition’s organizational retreat when we also officially inducted
15 newly elected Members—now bringing our group’s total to 71 Members.
The New Democrat Coalition provides moderate, pro-growth Members of Congress
the opportunity to advance a common sense policy agenda that will move our
country in the right direction. NewDems have built a reputation as effective leaders
on the critical issues of technology policy, economic growth, security and personal
responsibility. Intent on modernizing both the Democratic party and the country,
New Democrats support policies to expand economic growth and ensure that all
Americans have the opportunity to benefit; a fiscally responsible and efficient
government; a secure home front; and a robust foreign policy that includes trade,
constructive U.S. leadership throughout the world, and a modern and strong
military.

leaders and to help provide the funds they need in order to be successful.
